Unsheathe your knives; the second Knives Out movie already has a title – Glass Onion!
Glass Onion is the second movie in the Knives Out franchise. Knives Out is a mystery film created by Rian Johnson, who was inspired by classic whodunit novels, exactly like the works of author Agatha Christie.
Knives Out was a success, establishing private detective Benoit Blanc as the modern sleuth who shares the same wit and comedic gifts as Hercule Poirot. The first movie revolved around the alleged murder of a family patriarch who hands down his fortune to his nurse, leaving nothing for his children and their families. Everyone is a suspect until more mysteries arise, but Blanc finds out the truth in the end.
Now that Glass Onion is confirmed, here is everything we know about the Knives Out sequel.

Knives Out 2: Glass Onion Cast: Who are the Actors Included in the Netflix Movie?
We will be seeing new faces in Knives Out 2
Daniel Craig is still Benoit Blanc
Daniel Craig will return as Benoit Blanc in this second Knives Out movie. Craig is also ready to play Benoit Blanc in the third Knives Out movie if the opportunity comes since he is now available after his final appearance as James Bond in No Time To Die, released in 2021.
In his interview with The New York Times for his last Bond movie, Craig described how Benoit Blanc is his next most iconic role after Bond. Craig was also featured on the October 2022 Empire Issue cover as Benoit Blanc.
Craig told Empire that the biggest challenge he faced was remembering how to effectively deliver Benoit Blanc’s signature southern drawl. He said he had to work with his dialect coach for three to four months before shooting started to make sure he gave justice to Blanc and not make him a joke.
I’d forgotten the accent and I didn’t want to do a pastiche. I wanted to make it as grounded and as anchored in reality as possible.
Glass Onion New Cast
By the end of August, we learned the characters that the cast of Glass Onion will be playing, as reported by Empire.
The supporting cast consists Leslie Odom Jr. (from The Many Saints of Newark) plays the scientist Lionel Toussaint, and Janelle Monae (from Hidden Figures) as tech entrepreneur Cassandra Brand. We will also see Kathryn Hahn (of WandaVision) as Claire Debella and Ethan Hawke (from Moon Knight). The cast also includes Kate Hudson (from Truth Be Told) as Birdie Jay, Jessica Henwick (from The Matrix) as Birdie’s assistant Peg, Edward Norton (from Fight Club) as tech disruptor Miles Bron, and Dave Bautista (from the Guardians of the Galaxy) as a YouTuber called Duke Cody with Madelyn Cline (from Outer Banks) as his assistant named Whiskey.
When Bautista spoke with Slash Film, he described how terrified he was he got the part but also how much it helped him realize how much he values his work.
It feels terrifying. I’m nervous about it. I’m really nervous. It’s one of those things where now the pressure’s on because people are expecting things from you. I want to deliver. I take pride in that. I’m a game player. I want to throw a touchdown pass. I know the script is brilliant, I know the director is brilliant, and I know everybody that they’re going to cast – obviously Daniel [Craig] is there, he’s brilliant, and I believe Ed Norton’s been cast as well. So the names are going to get bigger and better, and for me, I can’t get it out of my head that – there’s always going to be a part of me that feels like I’m new to this and I’m still learning, an
d I want to be able to hold my own. So there is a bit of an intimidation factor, because all these actors and directors are just accomplished and seasoned and awardr-winners. But at the end of the day, this is how I gauge my career, the people I’m working with. The projects that I’m on, the directors that I work with. So I know being announced as part of this cast is a huge statement, because the first film crushed.
The first Knives Out movie that came out in 2019 also had a star-studded cast that included Ana de Armas, Christopher Plummer, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Toni Colette. The movie also included Michael Shannon, LaKeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, Don Johnson, Jaeden Martell, and Chris Evans.
Glass Onion First Look

Knives Out 2: Glass Onion Plot: What Will be the Plot of the Sequel?
Details about the plot of the second Knives Out film were very well-kept under wraps, so we didn’t know what the story would be about.
Potential Glass Onion spoilers incoming
We originally guessed the potential plot based on the title, but ‘glass onion’ can mean many things. It can refer to a type of wine bottle, a type of a light fixture, or a monocle (if you are British). The title may also allude to the hit song by The Beatles, a symbolic song that can refer to transparency and multiple layers of mystery.
As it turns out, the Glass Onion was the bar where a group of unlikely people used to meet for drinks when their lives seemed to a dead end.
The movie begins with a wooden box that can only be opened by solving a series of puzzles, peeling back one layer of mysteries at a time. We see vlogger bro Duke, celebrity and socialite Birdie, politician Claire, and scientist Lionel work together to open the box.
Another person, an ambiguous woman, also receives a box. However, instead of solving the puzzles, she smashes the box.
Without going into too many details, the entire plot revolves around ruined friendships, siblings, the dead coming back to life, and an oh-so-important old napkin that sits in plain sight.
Benoit Blanc adds more chaos to the mix, but his unexpected presence is the key to the biggest mystery of all.
