A PE teacher accused of having sex with an 18-year-old student was reported by a student after seeing them in a hotel room, a board heard.
Former principal David Nicholls drove to the Premier Inn to find Melissa Tweedie, then 23, and was met by six students, who believed she was in the room with the boy.
He eventually contacted Ms Tweedie by phone after arriving at her hotel in Glasgow, when she insisted she was at home and failed to send her location when requested.
But the next day, the student met Mr Nicholls at Glennifer High School in Paisley, Renfrewshire, and said they had had sex.
Ms Tweedie is said to have broken up with the students during a school prom at the SWG3 nightclub in Glasgow before returning with them to their hotel in June 2017.
Mr Nicholls told the panel: “She seemed perfectly fine and was a compositional mentor at SWG3.
“Later, I found out from senior staff that they thought she was too familiar with a certain senior.
“At 1:45 a.m., one of the senior boys called me.
“The boy who called looked panicked and said Miss Tweedie was in the hotel.
“He seemed quite nervous.
“When I entered the lobby, I saw six students, including Head Boy and Vice Head Girl, they looked worried and said an employee was staying in the hotel.
“Hotel staff asked the age of those involved and when they were sure they were of legal age they said it was not their problem.”
He said she was in tears when she was told she had been suspended, pending investigation.
Ms Tweedie, who now lives in Dubai as a yoga instructor, faces being dropped from the list by the General Teaching Council of Scotland following the allegations.
Police Scotland was alerted to the incident and investigated it at the time.
They found that no crime occurred.
The hearing continues.
