Simple arcade game about conquering land
November 19, 2018
At this stage in life, if a game with such a simple and basic design becomes a hit that means that it must be really worth it. Paper.io is a game made with simple geometric designs (lines, rectangles, and squares) and four primary colors. A rather peculiar game that has managed to succeed.
Paper.io is a game for the whole family and doesn’t require an Internet connection.
How to play?
It’s a sort of crossover between the legendary Snake of the ancient Nokia phones and Volfied, the arcade game released by Taito in 1989, but a much more simplified version. Our goal is to conquer every single inch of territory, gaining no man’s land as stealing territory from other players that you kill. Just get hold of the 100% of the board pixel by pixel making sure you don’t crash into the edges of the panel, although you can eat up the space claimed by other players.
The weakness of each player is their tail: if they touch yours you’re dead and will have to start all over again. And you’ll have to do so quite a few times because the games are short unless you’re an extremely experienced gamer. Strategy and patience are crucial elements.
After each game, you’ll be shown a summary the lists the territory conquered, the time you’ve spent playing, your score and the number of players you’ve managed to defeat. There are loads of gameplays you can watch to try to beat the world record, but above all, you’ll need patience and to play loads and loads of games.
