There are many bosses to take on in Valheim. The third boss is Bonemass, a toxic enemy that’ll turn you to dust if you’re not careful. To make sure you come out of this fight on top we’ve put together this Valheim Bonemass walkthrough. We’ll tell you how to summon Bonemass, tips on beating them, and the rewards you’ll get for doing so.
How To Summon Bonemass
As with the other bosses you’ll need to find a runestone to reveal Bonesmass’ location. This can be found inside of crypts, they can be accessed using the swamp keys that dropped from the Elder fight. Crypts are located in swamp biomes. Multiple crypts can be found in a swamp biome, it’s best to get yourself on a raft to look out for them. Build a base nearby the biome, this could be in a meadow, do so and you’ll have safe point to return to and respawn at. Crypts are identified by a green-lit torch outside of the entranceway.
- Bring a few copper pickaxes with you, you’ll need to mine through muddy puddles which drop scrap iron, you’ll need this.
- Make a portal which has chests on the other side as you’ll need to store away items due to inventory weight.
- Having Megingjord from the trader is useful as it adds 150 weight capacity.
- Be sure to bring food with you for buffs.
- It’s best to bring blunt weapons with you as they will have the biggest impact on swamp enemies and Bonemass himself.
You should eventually get an item called “Withered Bones” this is what will be used to summon Bonemass. You need 10 of them to do so and can find out Bonemass’ location by reading a runestone in the crypt. If you can’t find the runestone then head to another crypt as it may not have spawned in the one inside.
What to Bring to the Fight
To complete the Bonemass boss you NEED at least 2 or 3 poison resistance meads. The fight should take no longer than half an hour depending on multiple factors such as team size, armour, etc. As mentioned earlier, be sure to use blunt weapons.
How To Beat Bonemass
Bonemass has three attacks, the first being a melee hit which will only hit one player at a time. His second attack is a poison attack which sprays the surrounding area with poison though this can be dodged. The third is a summon ability, meaning you’ll have skeletons and blobs to fight off too. If in a team the best strategy is to have one player tank the boss, taking all aggro. Other players will then hit Bonemass without receiving any damage.
Bonemass drops the Wishbone and its trophy. The Wishbone will be put towards the next boss, Moder. Bonemass’ buff gives you a third skill which increases your resistances to physical damage for 5 minutes with a 20-minute cooldown.
