Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War is set to premiere in October 2022 as part of the year’s fall anime season. If you’re not familiar, this will be the 17th season of Bleach. As the wait comes to an end, anime fans wonder when Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War starts in the manga.
What Is Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War About?
Bleach follows Ichigo Kurosaki, a part-time student, and part-time Soul Reaper. The anime has been out for quite some time, so you’ll have a lot of catching up to do if you’re new to the series. The series has been running for over two decades, spawning movies and spin-offs.
The events of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War will occur in the aftermath of the Arrancar and Lost Substitute Shinigami arcs and the remnants of Season 16.
The final arc will see the return of Yhwach’s Quincy army. Unfortunately, Uryu Ishida will participate as Yhwach’s successor. He is expected to sever ties with his friends, particularly with Ichigo. It will be an all-out war between the army of Quincy and the Shinigami.
The main antagonist of the new season is Yhwach, also known as Your Majesty. He is known to dislike conflict and is a self-proclaimed pacifist.
Yhwach is adamantly opposed to justice and honor, which explains why he is disgusted with the Gotei 13’s diminished status after his 1000-year absence.
The final arc will also fill in some plot gaps from the previous season. For instance, viewers anticipate learning the truth about Rukia’s assault during the first Quincy invasion.
The Sternritter characters are highlighted in the new trailer released by Aniplex on their official YouTube account.
The Sternritters are a group of powerful Quincy in Wandenreich’s army in Bleach. They are also tasked with eliminating the Soul Reapers, so they will play an important role in the invasion of Soul Society.
Based on the trailer, the Sternritters appear to be extremely powerful, from Jugram Haschwalth to Loyd Lloyd!
Tite Kubo collaborated personally with the creators on the conclusion of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War.
In a recorded video message on the anime’s panel at Anime Expo, the mangaka stated that fans can expect a new and refreshing experience in addition to its modern, contemporary coloring.
Kubo also revealed that he plans to include some omitted scenes from previous seasons in the new anime, if possible.
The first two episodes of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War will be screened in Tokyo, Japan, on September 11.
When Does Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Start in the Manga?
Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War will start in Chapter 480 of the Bleach manga. Chapter 480 is titled “The Blood Warfare“. The final arc will cover the manga from Volume 55 to Volume 74.
Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War will have 218 chapters in total. This will be the final act in Tite Kubo’s magnum opus, which was first released on August 7, 2001.
The Bleach manga has been completed as of writing, despite several hiatuses due to Tite Kubo’s health concerns. So, fans can now fully enjoy Bleach without having to worry about waiting for its continuation.
While waiting for the Bleach anime to return, fans can read the Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War manga as a prelude to Season 17 in October 2022.
